Every day, we consciously use activities, lay out and play materials to teach children that exercise is healthy and fun. Exercise games, setting out an exercise trail and doing sports together are part of this.

With this building block, children develop or learn:

By exercise we mean all light physical activity that you encounter during the day. Outside we get a lot of exercise, but we also pay a lot of attention to it inside. We allow children to exercise sufficiently, varied and with pleasure. By crawling, climbing, jumping and walking for example. In short, children move all day long. From the age of 3 we practice gross motor skills through dancing and movement games and provide a challenging, accessible and safe space to be able to execute this both indoors and outdoors, with an adventurous lay out that offers space for sufficient freedom of play and movement. Whereas the focus at day care is on movement, at the out-of-school care it is more about more intensive exercise through sports, such as football, basketball and athletics.

Sport and exercise

We allow children to discover their talents and interests and therefore offer the widest possible range of sports activities. This is fundamentally different from a sports club where one discipline – such as football – is central. From a hockey workshop to a self-defense clinic, all kinds of exercise make their appearance at the out-of-school care. By offering specific sports, we work on self-confidence and pushing boundaries for example. We deploy our own pedagogical staff, but also use external providers where necessary. And if the out-of-school care location is not suitable, we take the children to an external location.

If children come into contact with sports and exercise at an early age and enjoy it, they are much more likely to enjoy exercising in the future. Sports and exercise promote the health and healthy lifestyle of children. In short, we are laying a good foundation for a healthy future! This starts at day care with practising rolling over, crawling, climbing, clambering and jumping. This is not only fun, but also important for learning all kinds of skills. By practicing a lot with gross motor skills, children from 0 to 12 years old make incredible leaps in their development. For example, by practising to keep your balance you learn to use both hemispheres of your brain and that is important to learn how to write. At out-of-school care, children learn all kinds of skills through sports, such as tactical insight, problem-solving skills and cooperation. They learn this by being a referee, organizing a tournament themselves or devising tactics and applying them in a game format. This is reflected in our activity programmes and in the offer of external providers.

Ready for a healthy future

Doing sports and exercise are healthy. It promotes gross motor skills and the balance between body and mind. Exercise does not have to be difficult, it is in the smallest things. Outside, we move around a lot. Fresh air gives the brain extra oxygen and energy. But we also pay special attention to exercise indoors. Inaction is not in our DNA.
