Why is a mentor necessary?

Each child at our daycare has their own mentor. The mentor knows exactly what you value and talks with you about your child on a regular basis. Together we ensure that your child feels at home and can develop well.

The mentor is involved with your child and with you as a parent. A few weeks before your child starts at daycare, the mentor will make an appointment for the intake interview. During this interview, we discuss, for example, what is important to you, what your child likes and how your child likes to be comforted. And during the period of settling in, the mentor helps your child to quickly feel at home. The mentor stays close and always responds to the needs of the children.

In the Partou parent app, you can find the name of your child's mentor. If the child gets a different mentor, for example because he transfers to a different group, we will let you know who the new mentor will be.

The mentor

Out-of-school care

At the out-of-school care, the mentor also looks at how your child is feeling and conducts itself in the group. We mainly see your child in a social setting, and only part of the day. We therefore follow your child's development less intensively. Fortunately, this is followed extensively at school.

Transfer to the new out-of-school care

The mentor will also share information about your child with the new out-of-school care. If the daycare center and the out-of-school care are located in the same building, all information about your child will remain at that location. We then orally hand it over to our colleagues. If your child goes to one of our other out-of-school care locations, your child's information and data will move with them via the parent app. And we can further explain it orally if needed. If your child goes to an out-of-school care of another childcare organization, you will receive a transfer form, that you can hand over to the pedagogical staff of the new out-of-school care yourself.

If we notice something in your child's behaviour or development, we will always engage in a conversation with you of course. Once a year, we would like to discuss with you and your child how things are going and if there are any particulars. Before this conversation takes place, we will fill in a short questionnaire with observations (together with your child).

Transfer to primary school

The mentor will watch your child throughout the day. This way they will get to know each other well. We follow your child's developmental stages and make notes of the big and small milestones. By observing, we can learn together. Of course, the mentor will also share this information with you. For example, at the pick-up or in the annual parent meeting. A mentor is not only there for your child, but also for you. Is your child having trouble with something? Then together we will discuss how we can help. If you have any questions about your child's development, you can contact the mentor.

We know your child's needs, talents and challenges and know how your child is developing. That is valuable knowledge for primary school! Based on our transfer form, the primary school can continue the development line. We will only send the transfer form with this information to the school after consultation with you and with your consent. Sometimes an oral transmission will take place between the mentor and the primary school. For example, if there are concerns about your child's development, or if we have agreed with the school to do it in this way. If this is the case, the mentor will use a transfer form as well, which will be discussed with you in advance.

Monitoring children in their development

Contact with parents

In our Partou parent app, we regularly share updates about your child. But there are more ways that we  connect with you. For example, when our employees start a conversation with you during drop-off and pick-up or via a newsletter. You can read more about how your location stays in touch in your location guide.

At VE locations, parental involvement has been worked out more broadly. We work even more on a continuous line of development, and we are in very close contact with you about the development of your child. You can more about how this is implemented at your location in your location guide.

Growing up is like a journey full of adventures. We join you and your child in the journey of upbringing. We are there at all stages of development and celebrate milestones with you: from your baby at daycare to your teenager at out-of-school care. And from the first tour to the farewell. We do this together with you and with teachers and other stakeholders. We call this pedagogical partnership. A good, warm network of people who work well together will help your child to develop. We are in it together!

Pedagogical partnership

A relationship of trust starts with getting to know each other. Sometimes it will take some time. Settling in is therefore extremely important. We really take the time for that. You can read all about getting used to day care or toddler care and about getting used to the out-of-school care.

We constantly check whether every child feels good. We also look at development and whether everyone still feels comfortable in the group. An important part of our craftsmanship is knowing and recognizing the most important developmental phases and milestones and looking at children's signals. If there are any peculiarities in behaviour or development, we will discuss it with you. You can read more about this here: Interaction with children.

A good foundation

Sometimes we notice something or we are worried. We then follow our step-by-step plan for remarkable behaviour. We will discuss this with you and see what is needed together. If necessary, we will look for outside help together. If applicable, we follow the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Reporting Code.
